THE SIZING GUIDE

A thoughtful fit starts
with three measurements.

Width, height and depth tell us how the shell will sit in your kitchen. Rough dimensions help us begin; final dimensions are confirmed before fabrication.

01 / WIDTH

Start with your cooktop.
Check the cabinet opening.

Measure the space between the upper cabinets. The finished hood width includes the apron and side trim; the interior insert opening is a separate dimension.

Starting points from our sizing guide
Cooktop widthStarting hood width
30 inches30 inches or wider
36 inches36 inches or wider
48 inches48 inches or wider

Confirm the final width against the cooktop instructions, insert specifications and available cabinet space.

02 / HEIGHT

Balance the proportions.
Confirm the mounting position.

Record the ceiling height and floor-to-cooktop height. The shell height is the height of the wood enclosure; it is different from clearance above the cooktop.

Planning ranges for wood shell height
Ceiling heightSuggested shell height
8 feet30–36 inches
9 feet36–42 inches
10 feet42–48 inches

These are visual planning ranges, not mounting clearances. Follow both appliance manuals and have your installer confirm the mounting position.

03 / DEPTH

Measure from the wall.
Plan around the insert.

Measure from the wall to the front of the upper cabinets, then discuss how far the hood should project. The shell must leave enough room for the insert body, flange and mounting clearances.

The final depth depends on your selected hood shape and exact insert model. A curved or tapered profile can reduce the available interior space.
